Product Details

This map was taken from the October 1775 issue of The Gentleman’s Magazine and was one of three maps released in successive issues to provide “a perfect Representation of the present Seat of War in America.” At the time, the American Revolution was well underway: The battles of Lexington, Concord, and Bunker Hill had taken place that spring, and the British forces in Boston were under siege by the emerging Continental Army led by George Washington. Readers of the Gentleman’s Magazine, eager for updates from the Colonies, would have examined this map with great interest.

We will include a modern day reproduction of the magazine.

As shown in the photo of the reproduction, this text appears at the bottom of the cover: "With an accurate PLAN of the Town of BOSTON, drawn upon the Spot; with, together with the Map of Boston Harbor, and of the Country One Hundred Miles round that Town, already published, exhibit a perfect Representation of the present Seat of War in America."

Size of print: 10" x 7.5"
